James is
a comedian, actor and writer.
He has performed in 15 Storeys High on BBC3, That Mitchell and Webb Sound on Radio 4, and made regular appearances on The Jack Docherty Show. In November 2003, he played Dennis in Cal McCrystal's sell-out production of the Joe Orton play Loot at the Derby Playhouse.
At the Edinburgh Fringe he has written, performed and directed, playing multiple characters in a sell-out production of Stephen Fry's The Liar, writing and performing Rummage with Perrier Award-winner Matthew Holness, and directing The Mitchell and Webb Story and The Mitchell and Webb Clones.
His day job is as a comedy writer, and with his writing partner Mark Evans he has written for all manner of radio and television programmes, including Ed Stone Is Dead (BBC2), Popeman (BBC3), The Eleven O'Clock Show (Channel 4), That Mitchell and Webb Sound (Radio 4) and the Sony Award-winning The Very World Of Milton Jones (Radio 4). They were also the head writers for the last series of The Jack Docherty Show (Five) and for both series of ITV1's hugely successful entertainment show Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway which won a Royal Television Society Award and a British Comedy Award.
Mark and James have also taken two double-act shows to Edinburgh as Bachman and Evans: Hmm... in 2001, and The Bachman and Evans Special Edition in 2002. As a result of these shows, they were commissioned by Absolutely Productions to write a sitcom, Zoom which is currently in development with Absolutely and the BBC.
