Why are UK Jobs in Short Supply?

As a direct result of the current worldwide economic climate, the unemployment figures in uk jobs has increased significantly. The amount of people claiming unemployment benefit nowadays are getting close to the record high figures of the early eighties.

The problem with having such a high unemployment rate is that there are a great deal of people applying for the same jobs, making it a far more completive market.

It is also commonly regarded that the growing UK population from EU member states has also greatly contributed to this problem. This is especially the case where it comes to unskilled jobs, such as in agriculture and factory jobs.

This has caused a great deal of resentment from those looking for such jobs, as they feel that they should get priority over those not indigenous to the UK.

It is argued, however, that many UK citizens are not prepared to work for what is normally the minimum wage, especially when the work involves hard physical work.

It is a popular opinion that those who travel to the UK from the EU states are prepared to do so. Most employers are also of the opinion that these individuals work harder and are more reliable than their UK counterparts.
